DANIELLE ALARY TO HEAD PHOTO JURY AT THE WORLD FESTIVAL OF UNDERWATER IMAGES HELD IN ANTIBES (France).

(St-Hubert)

Underwater photographer, multi-image producer and author Danielle Alary has been appointed as President of the photo competition jury of the 2000 edition of the World Festival of Underwater Images held in Antibes Juan-Les-Pins. This yearly event is the most prestigious celebration of underwater images in the world.

Representatives of more that 40 countries attend or participate in the competitions. Alary, who lives in Canada, won the Silver Diver in the slide show competition in 1997 and was a member of the photo jury in 1999.

"Antibes is a unique event comments Ms Alary people come from the five continents to celebrate the images and the sea. I feel privileged to have the opportunity to help determine who are the best underwater photographers. I also hope that my appointment will bring in more submissions from North America. I am not biased but I would like to see more material from photographers that live on this side of the Pond."

Along with husband Michel Gilbert, Ms Alary produces articles and multi-image panoramic slide presentations that delight thousands. Their latest production entitled "It Takes A Dream" was acclaimed at Our World Underwater dive show in Chicago last April. They are regular speakers at various events including Beneath the Sea in New York and Underwater Canada, held in Toronto.

The 2000 edition of the prestigious festival will take place between November 1st and 5th. Located on the French Riviera, Antibes Juan-Les-Pins attracts thousands of visitors each year. Divers and non-divers are welcome in this most hospitable historic city. Entries for the competition may be submitted in many categories including: Colour or black and white photography, slide-shows, slides, video (large and small format), books, CD-ROM, websites, etc.
