It's a wetsuit, its a drysuit, it's.....

From the back it looks like a drysuit. But when viewed from the front, the lack of valves tells you that the Mares Isotherm Plus is something quite different. The Isotherm Plus is technically classed as a semi-dry or what might result if we crossed a wetsuit with a drysuit.

The trick to staying warm in a wetsuit is to allow as little water as possible to circulate through the suit. The one-piece Isotherm plus, made from supple 6.5mm neoprene lined with a plush metallic based fibre for warmth, addresses this problem through a system of toroidal rings at the neck, wrists and ankles. When the suit is fitted properly these soft, rubber, snug fitting, doughnut-shaped seals drastically limit or even eliminate the problem of water exchange. There is also the added insurance of skin rubber seals that tuck under the rings to seal just like a dry suit. Overflaps with zippers at the wrists and ankles allow for easier donning.

Combine all these seals with the Mares gloves and boots with skin-in cuffs and ankles, and the drysuit zipper which is mounted across the shoulder, and the Isotherm Plus is about as dry as you can get in a wetsuit. The hood, which is included, also has a skin-in seal.

The Isotherm Plus should fit close but, depending on how well the seals fit, may not need to be as snug as a normal wetsuit, which will allow for greater freedom of movement. In fact some users actually wear light clothing such as a Lycra suit or a light fleece vest under the Isotherm Plus.

The Isotherm Plus is a good looking suit and overall workmanship is excellent throughout with glued and blindstitched seams. Men's suits come in royal blue on black while the women's suits come in purple on black. Sizes small to XXXL in men's and up to XXL/14 in women's are available. The toroidal rings can be adjusted by local wetsuit manufacturers.
