Blood N Bubble fans will have had to dive deep into the local video bargain bin to have seen this month's film in question. Made in 1994 by National Lampoon, this movie was originally called Scuba School. Starring Corey Feldman and Corey Haim, the Canadian produced movie tells the story of two hip unemployed Detroiters who move to a California island to help their uncle save his holiday resort from a evil rich rival. The boys briefly pretend that they are scuba instructors and on their one and only dive manage to find a mermaid! Can you name this film?

National Lampoon's Last Resort. A fitting title since National Lampoon Magazine went out of business right after releasing this 90 minute long, 1994 movie. The cash strapped company moved filming of the movie from sunny California to a rather frigid Canada. Since there aren't any palm trees or sea side beaches in Toronto, National Lampoon had to improvise with cardboard coconut trees and cutout sun bathers! The actual underwater scenes were filmed in a dry studio complete with plastic kelp and stuffed fish suspended from the ceiling by wires. The divers had to blow soap bubbles into the air while they danced their way across the sound stage. Observant Blood N Bubblers will notice that Feldman and Haim are wearing BCs and scuba tanks, but they don't have regs or inflator hoses. No, the actors actually have snorkels in their mouths while they pretend to be 100 feet underwater! Trivia buffs takenote, this film includes a cameo by Roger Clinton the younger brother of former president Bill Clinton.
